Logic Pro 8 GTR Rig wah controller

as usual ..I'm perplexed:confused:.I don't know if this is a Logic thing or GTR Rig or a me thang .I'm trying to use my Axiom 49 expression pedal as a wah controller(it's assigned to contr 21 btw).

In GR I've opened controller page.Chose cry wah from the pull down and PEDAL ...hit the learn button and the controller doesn't show up in the left pane.

It looks like GR isn't recognizing my controller. Is there a Logic prefrence for this or is it GR or .....is it ME!! Please help ...I just want to play my wah wah......:brkwl:

an addendum I opened GR as a standalone and the assignment works but it says contr 11 (which is expression default so ???)...Logic??/

Looking more like Logic....I opened GR as standalone and made a patch with the controller set for the wah..it works.I can see the slider move with the pedal.I saved patch and opened it in Logic ..VOILA'!! it showed the controller in the left pane.......but it doesn't work....So I cleared it (in Logic plug mode) and tried to reset it...no go...

GR won't learn inside of Logic
expression pedal doesn't respond in GR in Logic....
.

In Logic, are you using the "Easy View" in the controller assignments window? Make sure to clear anything that is in it's memory by hitting the delete button first (on the lower left) until it is grayed out.

Then hit the learn button, and then move your expression pedal. That should be all that's necessary for Logic to learn that controller.

As far as controlling the wah in GR; I'm not sure about that part. But it sounds like you have that end of it figured out - getting GR to have the expression pedal control wah.

Thanks Eli..but you lost me at "In Logic"🙂.....I never went to the "controller assignment window" because I didn't know it existed. When I finally figured out where it was it auto set the parameter to pan I hit the delete then learn.....pushed my x pedal.... it didn't work.

Eli ...me niether ....sorta:eeek:... read on.

Sascha,
Yes both Fx and MFX are in there.

Just for myself I wrote a tutorial(maybe it will be helpful...later!!).Sorry if this look like GR for dummies.

1.Open GR in Logic
2.Choose a patch with wah or drag wah into the rack
2.On the left window at the top choose the 3rd tab for "Edit global settings and controller assignments"
3."Push" controller button (right side) to open window
4.In the window is "rack controls" .Choose any control# .If wah is not already assigned in pane on the right
5.Pulldown the menu from the right pane and choose "pedal"
6.Go to the rack in the far right window to the wah pedal
7.Move the slider in the middle of the wah rack (it's between the 2 foot pedals....this is VERY IMPORTANT!!))
8.Go back to Logic arrange page and click on Logic in the menu bar(is that what it's called?)
9.Choose "preference" then "control surfaces"
10.The pullout should say" learn asignment for wahwah pedal"because you just moved the slider in GR
***note steps 8-10 can be accesed by key command (command +L)
11.Push controller pedal down (or whatever you want as the controller)
12.in "input mesage it should say "control change ".....the midi channel"... "the CC# ......"Lo7"..I don't know what the Lo7 is..(location 7 ?)
13.Click yhe "learn mode" button
14.Voila'!!!..... it should work.!!

But it doesn't always work. I did this multiple times yesterday to Learn the exact sequence and it worked!!.This morning I followed my instruction MULTIPLE times and...it doesn't work.Yes I did it in FX and MFX.

on top of that....

just as I thought..... it only monitors the wah.I think I need to record the expression pedal as midi controller data then port it(bus?) to trigger it .I'm absolutely lost at this point(especially since I can't make it work anymore). The manual isn't helping (at least I can't find it)....but hey... .I'm having fun wasting time and not getting paid!!

appreciate all help.
