Logic Pro Guitar plug in noise

Hi

I'm struggling with guitar noise. I mean when I plug my guitar into my Scarlett 4i4 and use Logic clean guitar sounds are all right ( more or less ) but any additions of effects or amp simulations gives me horrific noise. I get buzzing, crackling, noise when my hands touch muted strings even, and even if I can get something almost bearable sounding and let the note sustain it does it for a little while then ends in a crackling noise which then just dies.

Is this normal? Should I do something else? Should I ditch Logic effects and add a pedal before my input or use an amp and mic? Any tips on how to do a step by step solution to this issue?

Thank you very much for your help

What you're describing isn't typical.
It sounds like gain staging needs some attention beginning with the input level into your interface, the 4i4. After that make sure the input level in the audio track doesn't exceed -12dB, definitely don't exceed -6. Beyond that adjust plug-in input and output levels each step of the way.

A real amp or a high quality pedalboard may sound better, but my impression is that Logic's collection of guitar and bass amp sims and effects sound great.

Hi thank you for your reply. I have tried the suggestions but unfortunately they haven’t helped. I changed guitar cables and also guitars but the result is the same. It’s very frustrating. What I don’t understand is why clean sounds are good but when I add the effects it goes crazy?
