Logic Pro 9 Halion 4 and Logic

I am aware that this is an unusual combo but here I go....
Does anybody know if Halion 4 works with Logic. Judging from Steinbergs site it does but I have more than once been promised things from that company that they just didn't live up to.
My basic problem is that I have most of the big drum sample packs but only one has a really realistic hihat I find. This is for copying stuff that a real drummer would do (rock-style). The hihat that I have always been very fond of is the Scarbee Imperial Drums XL hihat (the whole package is brilliant actually) but it's based on the Halion 3 player which never worked well with Logic and since Logic 9 there have been no multi outs (and yet no upgrades either).
However Halion 4 is supposedly fully backwards compatible so the Scarbee library can run on that one but how is the AU version of Halion 4 working.

Hello,

HALion Sonic v1.5.2 works with Logic on my system. And since H4 is tightly integrated with HS with some new content added to what's currently offered by HS, I'm guessing... it works.

I'm eligible for the really low upgrade price. Maybe it's time to act.

I'm certainly considering Halion 4 because I already have Scarbee ID XL and I also work as a teacher. Steinberg usually have very fair edu offers.
Still I don't want to put any money in that direction until I know that it works for sure.

Here's what I can tell you so far:
1. No installation problems
2. It passed Logic's plug-in authorization slowly, but without any warning messages.
3. It loads within a Logic project without any issues.
4. In a quick 5 track experiment using a stereo instance of H4, all tracks played as expected.
5. I switched from a stereo to multi-out instance which took a couple of seconds to process. Assigning individual outs was very easy on the GUI. The tune played back without missing a beat.

The GUI is a gorgeous dark tone affair that is elegant and easy on the eyes.

Consider the wealth of Logic Channel Strip Settings whose purpose is to put the focus on creating music vs time spent building effects chains. In the same vein, the sounds in HALion Sonic/HALion 4 provides the user with a broad palette of excellent sounds, all of which can be endlessly tweaked in needed.

I like HALion 4:thmbup:

The big question for you is whether or not it contains the sounds you're looking for.

Thanks a lot for your posting🙂
No big question because my entire reason for being interested in Halion is that I already have a Halion library that I would like to use. I will definitely consider getting Halion 4 just to run that.

HKC-

Did you ever find a solution for using SID in Logic 9? I'm in the middle of moving everything from Logic 8 on a G5 to Logic 9 on a Mac Pro, and I've so far been unable to get the Scarbee plug to run. No response from Scarbee to repeated emails, either. I did find what looks like a Kontakt port I'm going to try, but if you found a way to get the original Halion version to play (especially a free way), I'm all ears.

No sorry I never got around to it. I remember SID XL as being as good as it gets so I would still like to use it but I haven't gone further into it......yet🙂
