Helicopter-like Sound in my Guitar Signal..?

Hi!
I have been trying to record some guitar tracks to get mixed elsewhere, but I am having a problem.

I plug my guitar to my presonus firestudio mobile, and I get this helicopter-like sound that doesn't go away, regardless of if I'm playing the guitar or not.

What I mean by "helicopter" sound is it's a repeating "puh-puh-puh-puh-puh" akin to the sound helicopter blades make.

It's driving me nuts as it affects my guitar recording.

I have substituted cables and it DID work once before, but now all of the cables still result in the "puh-puh-puh" sound.

Do you think it's a CABLE issue?

Or an issue with my presonus firestudio mobile interface???

Electrical interference, perhaps. Do you have anything like a fluorescent strip light, energy saving lightbulb, TV set or a heater turned on? They're common culprits, especially with single coil pickups.

Try turning off as much electrical stuff as you can, and also moving the guitar around to see if the noise gets better or worse depending on its position. If it does seem like electrical interference, and you've turned off potential sources, and you're sure your cables are OK, you might consider screening the interior of the guitar with foil.

Thanks Jans! I even noticed that the noise increased as I moved the guitar closer to my laptop! However I picked up a MONSTER CABLE and it went away!
