Logic Pro 8 Help! Lost ESX Factory sounds

I found trumpet OK in the Factory/Legacy Instruments/Horns & woodwinds directory, but ESX can't find the Alto or Tenor Saxes -

the Tenor Sax file name as it appears in the Progress window is:

Loading Audio Files for "Tenor Sax.exs"...

<Audio file "TESLNOMA2X01" is not found>

This happens in both L7 and 8

I would assume that something like this would be a default instrument for Logic, so either I have inadvertently trashed the contents of a folder, or ESX has lost its mind...

any ideas?

do L7 and 8 each have their own ESX plugin? If so, then it's not ESX after all.

I had a similar thing 2 months ago and it appeared the samples in question resided in GarageBand folder, not in EXS factory samples. Have you moved/uninstalled/altered GarageBand installation?

Possibly. I tend to move any sample/loop folders I find to a dedicated RAID.
But if so, how come I got trumpet OK?

Where should the GarageBand samples folder live, please?

thanks andy - long list starting with '2-step remix' and ending with 'xylophone' - right where you said :)

No folder called 'legacy instruments' though.

I tried again after DiskWarrior, no change. Trumpet is there, saxes aren't.

If you have Garageband installed, try selecting all instruments one after the other in the browser, this way it might update all GB related data, this helped me more than once.

Best,
