Logic Pro 9 help no guitar plugins working or recording

Hey folks, i'm new to Logic.

I have installed logic pro 8 and already finished a track using VST instruments but when I tried to use a guitar via my interface none of the plugins work and I cant record or even get Logic to pick up the signal for the guitar tuner for example.

garage band is working fine so my Interface is fine.
garage band plug ins work fine as well.

I have not muted the guitar track
I have opened guitar tones and none of the tracks pick up the signal so its not a single track setting.
the guitar is playing through my monitors.

When I understand you wright, you want to record a real guitar.
First thing you should check in audio preferences: Is your interface selected in audio in?
Then make a new Audio Track, select it and enable record.
Now you should see an input when you play the guitar and you should be able to record the signal.
