Logic Pro 9 Help: Score Editor 12/8 time display

Hi,
I've searched the forums but not found anything helpful in answering my question. How do I (and can I) set up the Score Editor show dotted quarter notes as the beats in 12/8 time when inserting notes from the part box or with the pencil tool? At present the Score Editor shows each eighth note (1-12) in the help tag. I know I can just identify beats 1, 4, 7 and 10 but it would be easier to enter notes if the beats were grouped as triplets.
Thanks.

Create a new, totally empty project. Click on "track" in the arrange window and create a MIDI track. Hit the <ESC> key so you can select the pencil tool. Create an empty region in your new MIDI track. Change back to the pointer tool and drag the end of the region out to the sixteenth bar so you have something to work with in the score editor.

Make sure the new (empty) MIDI region is selected. Use the main menu pull-down to select the score editor. You should see 16 empty measures in 4/4.

Double-click in the 4/4 tempo marking (in the score editor display).
Enter 12 as the numerator and 8 as the denominator.

Select the dotted quarter. Use the pencil tool to enter your notes.

In my example, I have the score editor's "style" set to piano and "quantize" set to 16,24. "Syncopation" is unchecked and "no overlap" is checked.

Logic's score editor is unlike Finale, and does require frequent use of the reference while learning it.

Thanks Juan,
What you've suggested is pretty much what I've done with the exception that I also have interpretation unchecked. I wasn't clear in my question, what I was hoping for is that there was some way for the bar line ruler to show 4 four dotted quarter beats instead of 12 times eighth notes. I realise that it's not just related to the Score Editor but that's where I'm working at present. The insight you have given me is that the Score Editor is smart enough to know that if you fill the (say) first "beat (dotted quarter)" with notes/rests it will then put you at the start of the second "beat" etc..

Regards
Dave

A lot of us want this, not to mention a 12/8 metronome clicking on 4 rather than 12 beats. (although you can work around that with your own click track of course)

12/8 has a few issues in Logic, ever tried dragging a 12/8 Apple Loop into a 12/8 project?
