Logic Pro 9 Help with L9 upgrade

This is my debut post, and I would really appreciate some help with questions I have re upgrading to Logic 9.

I run a PPC G5 with L7 and OS 10.4.11. I want to upgrade to L9 but from searching I know I cannot run OS past 10.5, and that the latest version of L9 my machine will run is 9.0.2.
9.0.2 is obviously no longer made by Apple so I am looking on ebay and Amazon. However all I can find is Logic 9 V2.0 or 2.1. I have been told that V2.0 should include a 9.0.0 disk. If so, am I right in presuming that should install OK on my OS 10.5 PPC? If that is the case, would I be also able to use the other features that come with V2.0?

I'm not sure exactly what you are seeing for sale on these sites, but the most current version of Logic is 9.1.7

If you are buying the version of Logic Studio 2 (that is what Logic 9.x is called) that comes with physical install discs then yes, it should come with earlier version of 9.x. I'm not sure if later batches of the install discs included versions higher than 9.0.0; it's possible they did. See if there is any way of verifying with the vendors specifically which version is on the installer disc; assuming the discs have been open and used.

You should be able to use most of the Logic 9 features on a G5, but you won't get much horse power. Flex editing might bring your machine to a crawl; as might Amp Designer, etc.

Yes, with the 64-bit version (Logic Pro 9.1) the DVDs were remastered and no longer contain PowerPC code. It will be almost impossible to buy a PPC compatible version of Logic Pro anywhere.

Thanks for the replies. I have located an Logic Studio upgrade, but from Logic Express - it has the install for Logic 9.0.0 which should in theory work. Does anyone know if this upgrade would work from my Logic 7?

I'll mention this.

When I upgraded my Logic 7, it was to 8.
Then when I upgraded Logic 8 it was to 9.
Also, it asked for my previous serial numbers for each upgrade.

There was never an upgrade path from Logic 7 to Logic 9.

Yes, it will if you have Logic pro 9.0.0 and the xs key for Logic pro 7.
