Logic Pro 9 How does the signal flow run

How does a signal run through a channel strip in logic, As far as I understand, a signal runs from the top down...but my real question is the fader the last or the first in the signal flow.

Thanks,

Thanks,
I was thinking it can't be good for the signal to be turned up and down throughout the channel strip (example, +5db compressor -7db eq +2db fader,ect.)....knowing where the fader is in the equation will help.

Many, if not all, effects have their own respective control over the volume, either on the wet and/or dry signal...
