Logic Pro 9 How to create this particular vocal effect

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone could help me with trying to achieve a very particular vocal effect.

It may be something extremely simple - I am relatively new to using DAW's but need the help never the less.

The effect I'm trying to achieve can be heard in this song... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vNsMltTynk

...from around 2 minutes 17 seconds in.

I am no expert on vocal effects but I think it sounded like the vocal was sung through a vocoder effect and then passed through some kind of auto-tune effect.
So, to me it was a two step process...: Vocoder first and then auto-tune tyoe processing after.

Maybe someone here has a better grasp though. Good luck experimenting!

Thank you. I've tried this and I managed to get something pretty similar but not quite as smooth as the sample I posted. Any other ideas from anyone are appreciated. 🙂

If you use the vocoder, you're already playing pitch-perfect notes on a synthesizer, and modulating them so they sound like the synth is 'singing' them. If you also mix in the original vocal line, you might have to use drastic auto-tune to make it blend with the vocoder notes, but the sample you provided sounds like it might be just the vocoder output. You can still modulate the vocoder with a vocal track that doesn't appear in the mix by sending the output of the vocal track to nowhere but still selecting it to modulate the vocoder. Try all the modulated vocoder patches to see which one works best.
