Hi--
A lot of times when I'm working with Logic, i start messing with something at different tempos and just hit record when i like whats happening, with no click on. This works fine with audio, I just change the tempo to match after the fact, and audio doesn't follow tempo by default.
How can I do this with MIDI? Its especially problematic if say I'm messing with a chopped up sample spread across keys/pads. If I'm tuning the sample while playing it, the tempo is changing all the time, but I need to set that final tempo to be the logic tempo, regardless of what's going on in the midi region.
I'm thinking there should be a way to do something like:
1) record midi region and stop.
2) Trim or copy/paste from MIDI region till you have a looping section that represents your tempo.
3) ENGAGE MYSTERY FUNCTION OF PRESERVE REGION TIMING REGARDLESS OF GLOBAL TEMPO TRACK
4) Set Tempo By Region Length and Locators
5) UNSET MYSTERY COMMAND.
Or say you just know the tempo you played at, how do you get logic to change what it thinks the tempo is, without sliding around all your notes?
