Logic Pro I want to double my midi notes!

Hi!

First time poster and recent Logic Pro convert.

I tried searching for this but all I find is people with double midi issues being a problem. I was wondering how to take an 1/8th note and split it into two 1/16th notes for instance. And better yet, can I do it to a string of notes without having to go through changing the grid and drawing a bunch of smaller notes.

This may be easy but go softly on me, still learning and of course the topic I pick comes up with a ton of false positives. 😀

Thanks!

This is probably best done in the piano roll edit (not score or event list)

Just cut them where e necessary with the scissor tool. It will be less straightforward though if the notes are not quantised.

If that is the case I would think at the easiest might be to

select the notes,
copy them 1/16 of a beat later (option and drag)
shorten them by dragging the end of the note (or event list for fine tuning of length)

No problem if the above is still not basic enough, just ask.

I was doing that. lol It occurred to me that there might be a convert note to a set length type of thing. Sort of an easy divide but I guess not. Thanks for the info!

Well yes there would be a way using transforms but too complex to set up for one or two notes IMO. But this involves using the environment, bit of a lost art. I used to use it a lot but have since forgotten mostly how it it all works.
