Logic Pro 8 iac and channel splitter - environment

Hi,
I have a question on Logic8 with iac.

I am sending 16 different MIDI ch from an audio application through iac bus (mac intel).
It used to work fine in Reason but now that I use Logic 8,
all the channels seem to play together or depend on what instrument is selected on the arrange page!

I would like to hear everything in Logic in real-time (without having to record the MIDI first).
do I need to use a channel splitter after the physical input object?
Any idea, suggestion?

Thanks for your help

If I remember right, some people managed to use the instrument channel of the track but I never got this working. If noone can tell us how, my answer is yes you want a channel splitter for that. And you have to cable the outlets of the channel splitter directly to the instrument channels. Otherwise only the instrument(s) on the selected track are playing. If you cable directly, all connected instruments will play, based on their channel and/or other filtering you might have. Independent from the selected track.

Some instruments do react to the channel. For example the Logic B3 organ (lower, middle and upper manual). Or, if you use Kontakt, you can set the channel per instrument there. Then you do not need direct cabling but need to select the track where the multichannel-instrument sits.

If you want to switch between directly cabled instruments that are not channel-aware, you need either to change the channel of the source or build your own switching matrix in the environment. Can be MIDI controlled.

Btw, if you have the choice, better avoid the IAC bus for some reasons. If your sending application provides virtual MIDI ports I suggest to rather use these.
