Logic Pro 9 importing pitchbends from an smf.

I opened my own MIDI file of Elgar's Enigma Variations in Logic. I noticed that none of the string pitchbends imported.

Should I have set up some sort of preferences before the import?

I will try another version of the file as the one I imported may not have had the pitchbends. Another one of my files imported with the pitchbends but the result was rather bizarre with staccatos where not indicated.
