Logic Pro 9 Is it possible to amend file names in a batch?

Here's my problem.

I have a project on my system. My client sends me some updated EDLs.
When I try to open the session I get something like this:

"the file named "bass3_1.aif can't be located at it's usual location"
then i see the location is
User/logic/session name/audio files folder/

Apparently my client somehow overwrote all the files in HIS session thus
the EDL is looking for "bass3_1.aif" instead of "bass3.aif.

Now I can simply go thru each file and add _1 to it and the session will load.
But this is a real pain when the session has 400+ files.

Is there an utility that anyone knows of that will let me amend all the audio files in a batch. The folks at Applecare were no help.

Thanks!!!

I thought you could do this thru the normal Apple folders no?

Its worth experimenting beforehand on copies of the files to make sure but Im almost certain you can do it that way.

Why did the idiot rename all the files in the first place!?

(and what does 'EDL' mean?)

ALternatively they could just resend all the Audio files over no?

I also thought there was a renaming facility within Project Manager (if that still exists within Logic 9)

Good Luck with that! lol

How? it would be great if there were a way of batch renaming straight in the regular OS / Finder somehow.

I'm not the original poster, but from what he described it sounds like the guy had his project set to automatically copy all files to the project folder, which would account for the appended _1 at the end fo each file name. They were probably duplicates of what was already in there.

Again, I am not the OP; but I am guessing they want to avoid re-transferring duplicate files unnecessarily.

Nope, there's no more Project Manager. I think it got dropped in Logic 8.

EEK!

so many quotes - so little time! lol

Re the bulk renaming of files Im sure a friend of mine showed me how to do this recently in OSX - although hadnt had an opportunity to try it. I think the same exists in Windows too.

And (and this is where the 'Im not the OP' kinda gets messy simply cause Im now responding to what you are saying rather than what they may actually need to say themselves) given the circumstances it would be FAR quicker to get them to send over the newly named files as opposed to the huge amount of time it has already taken to try to figure out how to change them all! Unless its a MAMMOTH song it should be doable via email/dropbox/FTP etc over night at the very least - as opposed to this which is taking considerably longer and holding up the project.

Alternatively when it comes up and says it cant find the original file surely its possible to browse for it instead (yes longwinded but this thread has taken 4 days already - surely it cant be longer than that! lol 400 files or no!)

The simplest solution is usually the best 😱)
