Is Logic Being Dumbed Down?

I saw "the moan zine" and felt this the perfect place to get views of others on this.

So thanks to apple for forcing obsolescence on perfectly capable machines, I've had to upgrade.

I hadn't used logic since Pro X second update (forgive me for not remembering the precise version).

Ever since apple purchased Logic from emagic they've made some improvements, but in my opinion, especially since getting logic 11, they're "dumbing it down" for everyone.

I understand that new users and creatives want to get going with little knowledge and fuss, however there's also those that know what they're doing and don't want all the automated track creating and other nonsense.

I also liked having the environment easily available, but they're trying to get rid of that. I was hunting for ages, to find it's now CMD 0.

There are plenty of other things, but it's just frustrating how these "wizards" can't be completely disabled for those of us that know what we're doing.

Am I alone in this?

FTR the "Cmd = secret environment handshake" was introduced with the LP 10.7.3 update . I did mention it in FAQ 24, right here:

To be honest Mark, your result didn't come up. I found it on a YouTube clip.

Regardless of when you mentioned it doesn't bother me, the fact it's being hidden and rumours say they plan to remove it is the real problem.

There should be an option for "beginner" or "advanced", maybe in logic settings.
Then the beginners can have all the wizards and environment and anything else that makes it "a one press magic operation". Then the advanced preference should do away with all the wizards, make the environment easily available and do away with all the "idiot proofing", to allow us to work in our own preferred ways.

Well, the FAQs are in as prominent a place as the forum offers, what can I say....

Actually, there is, under Logic Pro - Setting - Advanced, various functions may be switched on or off. AFAIK this was added to accommodate those moving to Logic from Garage Band.

While we hope that the forum is being watched by Apple, there is no guarantee that they will see something posted here. However, there is a way to make sure your views and wishes do reach them, here is a link: Feedback - Logic Pro

FWIW I'm not happy about hiding the environment either, it should IMO be brought up to date and further enhanced....

Hi Mark,
Believe it or not, not being a member for very long I didn't have access to the information so if " the FAQs are in as prominent a place as the forum offers", makes no odds when your not a member at the time.

I'm aware of the "advanced" option. Without that, you're correct in as much as its basically garage band.

Thing is, with advanced enabled it still is like garage band in so far as presentation and all the "wizards" and automated setups. The "advanced" option they should rename "expanded".

For the actual "advanced users" it's still treating us like we've never used a DAW before, let alone Logic since it was Emagic.
