Logic Pro 8 Is there a way to halve note values in Logic?

Is there a way to halve (or for that matter double...) note values in Logic? The plug in for Sibelius is wonderful and i couldn't imagine life without it 😛 it'd be fantastic if there was also the same plug in or some kind of trick to be able to do this with Logic.

any ideas? pointers? many thanks!!!

Have you tried selecting the notes in the event editor and changing their values there?

In addition to what Mark said, there are some other things, one cool score thing is MIDI meaning.

If you set up a staccato dot in MIDI meaning to 50%, every note you add one it to will halve its length. (plus other cool things like adding velocity to accents is possible). And of course you can add staccato dots to all selected notes at once.

You can also use transform to change note lengths, I won't go into a tutorial here, the manual should be useful for that, however more often than not I would just use the event list as Mark says.

That is a totally different thing. You are not changing the MIDI position or duration of the notes with it, just altering the playback.

But presumably if you then normalise it (KC=n), the MIDI will take on that gated value

Here is what I think the difference is Pete:

If you have i.e a bar with 4 quarter notes at 1 1 1 1 and you transform them to half, you will now have 4 8th notes that fill beats 1 and 2 with rests on beats 3-4.. Normalizing the gate will give you 4 8th notes that fall on each of the 4 beats.

I do not have Logic open at the moment but check it out and see if I am correct.

I thought the original poster just wanted to halve note values - not change their position. If you want to do both, you can just grab the end of a region while holding Option and halve the length of the region. This will result in shorter notes by half, plus they will happen twice as fast.
