iTunes Sends Information About MY SONGS to Apple?

What do you guys know about what Apple does with information about personal recordings of your own songs that you put into iTunes or Logic?

Playing some of my recordings of my songs that I've added to iTunes results in
"sending information to apple" messages. Why? What are they doing?

If they are trying to match iTunes Library contents to commercial releases for the purposes of testing the cloud fine, but...

What are they going to do with my song and related information?

Should they even be doing this? Anybody suspicious?

I need more information about this, otherwise I'll be more and more suspicious, and write increasingly suspicious riffs for them to do even more suspicious things with!

I need more information about this,

It might be a help for you to provide more information as well. Which itunes version are you using?

Have you contacted Apple about these messages?

BTW, as this is not a purely Logic 9 topic, I moved your post to the Mac OS forum.

kind regards

Mark

iTunes 10.4.1 (10), why?

No, have not contacted apple.

You're right. Belongs in Mac OS. I recognized this too late and apologize, and I also moved it there. Thank you!

If you're talking about iTunes Genius "gathering information about your library..." and "sending information to Apple...", it's just the meta-data that you may have entered (or not entered, mostly the title and genre) so they can build automatic playlists of similar songs for you, based on what others like together with the same songs.

The actual audio isn't being uploaded, and they are not interested in your songs, specifically. When you add tracks, iTunes has no idea if they are yours or Lady Gaga's, it just knows something is new.

Kill it: iTunes > Store (menu) > Turn Off Genius
