Logic Studio apps Just Starting With Mainstage

I have a Mac mini i'm planning to use with a Mainstage/live setup. I will use Kurz PC88mx as my main controller. I'm thinking of getting 2 M Audio controllers 61es and the 49 keyrig one. What I want to do is have Ivory and electric piano/Rhodes sounds on the Kurz layered, etc. The 61 controller will be for leads, pads, some other pianos, clav, EVB3, etc. The 49 one will be for bass using Arturia minimoog software plugin and then everything else available with Logic, electric, upright, fretless, etc.

My concern is the porting of sounds to specific keyboards. Will this be hard, easy? I'm just going into something totally new and have to invest some money to do this, so just trying to get some feedback along the way (and before I purchase).

All of that is dead easy. This is exactly what MainStage was built to do. Here's a couple of things to help you get up to speed fast:

• in your layout, you'll need a keyboard or midi monitor object associated with every one of your external hardware keyboards
• each channel strip in a patch can then be assigned to a specific keyboard
• if you assign two channel strips to a single keyboard, they 'layer' and you can use the layer editor to control splits and velocity triggering.
•Â every patch can contain a different set of channel strips, this means your rig can significantly change with each patch change
• I highly recommend MainStage 2.2.1 ($29 on the Mac App Store) - for machines with two or more cores, CPU performance is significantly improved AND, the Assignments & Mappings view is a dream come true for setting up and managing your patches.

The layer editor is under the main workspace. You get to it by selecting any channel strip and then clucking the layer editor tab below the workspace.
 
Like Brian says, if you can swing $30.00, I'd get the newest version of MainStage - they've fixed a number of issues, mapping is easier and it takes advantage of more than two processors - although I don't know if that applies to your Mini.
