to tell you the truth i'd like to use it for both...ill start with a simple question. Like does it have anything synth sounds built into it already? Thanks for the reply!

It does not make sound, it is a versatil MIDI controller.

Logic has a control surface for the KONTROL series built in and it will grab the Microkontrol instantly and turn it into a Logic controller by pushing it into "native mode". This feels fine for the first moment but you will soon discover that you have no more Microkontrol but rather a standard controller. There is a bypass trick, I forgot it. But the whole implementation in Logic is not good.

After you played a while with or without the Logic surface, I recommend to get an additional software: LC Xmu. This turns your Microkontrol more or less into a Logic Control, offers several bypass modes (on the fly) and is not expensive. And you can use it for other controllers and applications too.
