Logic Pro 9 Latency issues

I have a few sound cards that I regularly use for different purposes.
So I have to do a lot of switching between audio hardware.

I have a MB Pro with intel core 2 duo ( 2.4GHZ ) with 4GB 1067MHZ ddr3 RAM.
I use Apogee One for mobile composing, Apogee GIO for mostly controller and an RME FirefaceUC USB2.0.

Sometimes, my latency increases more than the audio hardware settings.
i.e audible latency with 64 samples I/O buffersize.
Sometimes a restart of Logic resolves this.
Sometime a complete restart of OS is needed.
I run OS X 10.6.5

Anybody has any ideas about this?

2. question:
Recording delay ( mine is @ 64 samples )
what should this value be?
Where in manual I can read about this?

AFAIK, you must do your own test. Somewhere there may be a database, but I would trust it.

My cheap and cheerful way is to just play a click track from klopfgeist and record it from the speakers, then open the SE window and check the how many samples out the recorded clicks are from the beat.

I do this every now and again, but especially before any important session, just in case it changes due to something on the system.
