Logic Pro Location Incompatible audio units

I recently upgraded to Logic Pro X (10.1.1) and every time I launch it I get the message that 1 incompatible audio units was found which did not pass the Apple AU validation.
The plugin manager shows the following information
AUWireTapAnywhere(Automap)AmbrWany - generator - Ambrosia Software 1.0.0 - couldn't be opened

I deleted WireTap several years ago. I searched my library both Local and on HD level but cannot find anything related to Ambrosia Software.

Can anyone tell me where to find that plugin in order to prevent Logic from showing the dialogue every time it is launched?

Possibly it is in Users/yourname/library/audio/plug-ins/components. If not then you may need to look for caches or preferences referring to this plug-in and left over after you deleted it. Perhaps there is an uninstaller which would clear everything out? I'm afraid I can't give more precise information as I don't use this plug-in. You may find help in Ambrosia's own forum: http://www.ambrosiasw.com/forums/index.php?s=5bdad28c20d944383916aee6a1c03094&act=idx

kind regards

Mark

Logic Pro X ==> Preferences ==> Plugin Manager ==> Reset and Rescan Selection
does not help?

---

Deleting software:
Often I take a good file search program like EasyFind, search for a keyword (i.e. wiretap) and delete all folders and files which clearly refer to the software I want to remove.

Resetting and rescanning within the plugin manager doesn't help. I also tried to install WireTap and use the uninstaller from within the app but that didn't help either. EasyFind doesn't find anything to do with WireTap or Ambrosia. Could it be that Logic Pro X is using some preference from Logic 9, which is still on my HD?

The information may be cached. Remove this file:
<user>/Library/Caches/com.apple.audiounits.cache

At the next start, Logic scans all Audio Units and your problem should be gone. Hopefully.

I deleted WireTap several years ago. I searched my library both Local and on HD level but cannot find anything related to Ambrosia Software.
When you do a Finder search, certain areas of your boot drive are excluded, thanks to Apple's "wisdom". As Peter suggested above, a 3rd party app might work, otherwise try the following:

Open a new Finder window.
Type in [Wiretap] in the search field or [Ambrosia]
Click-hold on the selector that says [Kind]
Scroll down and select [Other]
In the drop-down window, scroll down to [System files] and check the box next to it.
You could do the same with [File visible]
Click [OK]

Now when you click on the [Kind] menu, you'll see a new item for System files.
Select that.
On the 2nd menu, instead of [aren't included] choose [are included].

Now the search results extend into the areas that were not shown before.

This may or may not reveal the files you're looking for, but it's worth keeping to make future searches more thorough.

Have you tried creating a new user on your mac and see if you get the same problem with the new user.
If not, then it was some preference or cache file in your previous user space that was the problem.
If you still have the problem then it's system-wise and maybe a clean install is the only solution?

The problem does not occur when logging in as a new user. The question is now which cache file or preference is causing this problem as I performed several searches using the name of the plugin or Ambrosia (software developer)

At least your problem is not system wide.
You could drastically delete all files related to the faulty plugin and Ambrosia or use the Onyx application to do some cache cleanup (and other cleanups) on your computer and you can do this on a per-user basis.
You can find a version for your OS here :

The main problem is that already years ago I delete all such files. Onyx does not find one single file related to Ambrosia nor the file AUWireTapAnywhere(Automap)AmbrWany

I got rid of it! The nast file was called: AUWireTapAnywhere(Automap)AmbrWany. My 'last shot' was to uninstall Automap by using its uninstaller. Logic Pro X does not show the message anymore. The next thing will be to install Automap again and see if the problem reoccurs.
