Logic Pro 9 Logic 8 upgrade to logic 9 for lion

sorry if you've heard all this before but I've just purchased my 1st iMac (after years of recording with cubase,pc).I,ve also just got Logic studio 8 (boxed with about 8 discs) as my iMac is brand new it runs lion and it soon became apparent to me that the 2 are not compatible and that i need to upgrade to logic 9.What i'd like to know is what exactally do I need for my upgrade? do i just download from apple? do I need the full Logic 9 programme are all my discs (audio content ,jam packs etc) redundant and can i even upgrade something that's not even on my computer. any info appreciated and sorry for the boring post.

Welcome to the forum!

Now that Logic is in the app store for $199, I am not sure if the "upgrade" applies any longer.

But Logic 8 includes the hard copy of the manuals, which are nice to have.

The Dimarzio is a vintage, first generation Super Distortion. I sold it on ebay for about $40. It was on a Strat Plus I bought from Canada. I had to pay duty to get the Strat across the border back into the USA. I had a luthier route the pickup cavity for a 9v, and installed a 25dB midboost inside the Strat. Then I decided I would change the pickups over to Lace chrome domes. No stomp box required.

The Youtube link is interesting. Logic 9 includes Flextime. The original DVD release of 9 also included Waveburner, which lets you burn CDs from bounced files out of Logic. Waveburner is also part of Logic 8. There are many updates to 9 that you you won't get with 8, but you can do quite a bit with it if you are just learning. The reference manuals for 9 are pdf only, whereas the boxed version of 8 had many hard copy manuals. There are additional programs included in 8 and with the DVD version of the original 9 that are absent from the download.
