Logic Pro 9 Logic 9.1.2 is out

apparently this update removes hyperthreading support for many users. i know there are varying opinions on hyper threading and its usefulness but i thought i'd mention it since some users may find this update adversely effects the performance of their machine.

there is a long thread or two at gearslutz about it and also a mention of it at macosxaudio.com

The many significant improvements addressed in the release notes points towards increased stability. Nice reading indeed.

But there seems to be mixed reports out there about reduced track counts, reduced cores, etc. So it pays to back up and stay informed.

i guess some people w/quad core cpu's or i5/i7's have ben dealing w/this by installing the Xcode tools and using the cpu palette to manage cores. not sure how this all works out w/the 9.1.2 update.

there are mixed reports of some cpu's taking a hit and others experience the same performance.

Great, not a single of the issues related with "capture last take" has been solved.
In audio cycle recording, the created take folders are now expanded all the time - just what the doctor ordered (I mean, why did they invent them anyway? To get rid of that track mess, no? Now it's back there in full glory...).
Also, in cycle mode, the recorded region isn't selected anymore (just the last take inside the expanded folder, argh...), so I can't quickly delete a recorded audio file.

I can't believe all this anymore. Just another huge step back in the handling department.

Highly dissapointed already

Seriously, I can't believe this made it into an update. I fail to see how anything like this could even happen. In a normal software developing environment this would be considered as nothing less but a showstopper.
Not only didn't they adress any of the issues related to cycle recording (such as recorded regions not being selected anymore, which is a major annoyance already), now they're even introducing something which I consider to be one of the most non-sensical "updates" in the region handling department I've ever seen since I'm using Logic.
It's almost stunning.

Sure, Apples list of improvements is looking impressive, but that doesn't mean much to me if they continue to make the program less and less useable from an ergonomic POV. And it has happened multiple times already during the last 2-3 major versions.

I guess that means your glass is half empty?
