Logic Pro 9 Logic 9 DDR2 Ram needs? (actual)

Hello all -- new to the LUG.

Loaded Logic 9 -- all working great. Getting memory warning message (don't add more plugins) but seeing NO impact on tracking or playback. Question:
How much 667 MHZ DDR2 Ram is needed to make Logic 9 happy.

I'm running a Mac Pro Tower, 2 x 3 gig, dual core fast machine. Logic 8/Pro was flawless.

Any help appreciated!

4 gig is minimum if you want to use samples, I see machines with 16 or even 32 gig when running Logic and VSL or East West Symphonic libraries.

So 4 min, 32 max (make sure you Mac can take 32 gig though).

same here. i used to have a black macbook 2 years ago with 2gb. logic would work fine until i used guitar rig on multiple channels. then playback would randomly stop at times. switched to 4, never had a single problems and i use more plugins than you'd imagine. i did have to wait a tiny bit for the project to load, like 10 seconds and 10 more so the program would recognize the m-audio interface. now i'm on 16 with a mac pro, and loading of software is non existent ... not to mention it runs flawless as well.

good! i'd recommend kingston memory or crucial (http://www.crucial.com/)

crucial has a scanner to tell you exactly the ram you need, how much your mac is capable of having and important information like that. i used that scanner and then i bought kingston ram from a power seller memory company on ebay. bought kingston memory from them, 2 years and this computer/memory have served me wonders man. not a single crash, freeze or anything.

Talked to the guy who is demoing the new version for Logic and HE said to re organize the memory in Logic.

He was not very vocal regarding expanded memory requirements for Logic 9. (4 gb should be sufficient in MY machine, Mac Pro tower) So if this remedies the pop up memory problem the RAM upgrade may not be needed. As it was an internal problem within Logic system rather than in my hardware. (or so he thinks)

I will let you all know if the >Reorganize Memory resolves the pop up.

I have a G5 with 4.5 GBs of RAM which apparently is enough because I haven't seen that message yet. It's very difficult to specify how much is enough because it all depends on how you work. From what I understand it's a lot easier to say what is too much, I seem to remember that it's anything above 8-9 GBs but that may of course change with Snow Leopard next month.

agreed -- thanks. I have one of my install/engineers coming by the studio tonight and he should have more insight since he is a mac dealer/pro audio guy. I too have 4GBs and was told that for 8 that was all it could use.

I will update when I have more. Have a good one.
