Logic Pro 9 Logic memory

hsdrecording

Logician
Ive been running logic 9 on a mac pro with 10.5.8(?) for about 3 years with not too many problems. some occassional annoying bugs, but ive worked around them. but heres my new problem:

im recording a metal band (as i always do). started out tracking drums, 10 tracks at once. im about 60 takes into this thing, including restarting from top and punching, and i get a message saying logic is running low on memory. and shortly after it shuts down. no plugs or anything running. i quit logic, restart, and it goes for a while and craps out again. ive only had 3gb of ram and thought maybe its all these takes bogging me down, so i upgraded to 8gb yesterday. thought for sure my problem would be solved but, no.

today im tracking some gtrs, only 5trks, and same thing. only not as often.
any ideas why this is happening now? my guess was all the takes and low ram, but i have recorded way more tracks than that at a time with multiple plugs with no problems.

also, i just hooked up a faderport, first time to use it. not sure how that could cause this problem, but what do i know? these 3 things all happened at the same time (faderport, crashing, 10 simultaneous tracks with 120+ takes by finish).

anyone else experience this?

Go to your Logic application icon in the Applications folder and control click (or right click). You'll get a pop up menu. Navigate to Get Info. In that window you'll find a check box. Checked it's in 32 bit mode, unchecked it's in 64 bit mode.
