Logic Pro logicx file automatic backup?

After years of using Logic Pro (X) I finally did the unthinkable--overwrote my LOGICX file after several days work. It is utterly and irretrievably gone in the tap of a key! I began looking for an automatic backup, like MS Word or most other creative programs have--every 5 minutes or something reasonable. There is no backup that can be set as far as I can find. I see in Preferences / General and Auto Backup (Last 3 versions) and below that Recent Items (5). But this doesn't work on the LOGICX file as far as I can find. There are extraneous 2 folders for Freeze Files but nothing for BACKUP! It seems like a bug not to have this programmed into this sophisticated program where countless hours can be poured into the settings in the LOGICX file that can never be duplicated later from memory if lost. What am I missing here?

Not quite sure what you mean by overwrote the file.

(NB: if it is important there should always be a backup, e.g. via Time machine, Backblaze, Super Duper or similar)

I had just finished closing one song and clicked to start a New one which I immediately saved thinking I could name it later. Somehow it still was pointing at the same folder I had just closed the LOGICX file in and still had the name of that song loaded when I saved the "New" file. I was in a hurry to answer the door and thought all was cool until I came back and saw what had happened.
I am not blaming Apple or Logic Pro in this, only I think there should be a way of setting up progressive timed saves for the main LOGICX file like other creative programs like MS Word does every 5 minutes (with a different name). I have this 2009 iMAC and it takes a hit to try running Time Machine at the same time as Logic Pro--especially when I only need one file back-up--not the whole machine.

This is not good, and I suspect is more to do with some issue non your Mac rather than the way Logic normally behaves.

However have you tried the revert to under the file menu?

Thanks for pointing this out--I have never thought about this option. Unfortunately, it only works on the active .logicx file that is loaded. I can't load a file that has been overwritten. I did pull up an active file and see dates for saves at earlier dates for that file. I then opened the file that overwrote the missing file which very strangely has both the new name of the piece and the name of the piece that it overwrote at the top. I tried clicking Revert to but all the dates are after the other file was overwritten. I did notice the next selection down is Project Alternatives and at the bottom is the name of the overwritten file! It has a check in from of it and upon clicking it the same current file is reloaded. So Logic Pro knows there is a problem but there seems to be no hope for it.

I think I have basically solved the problem in the way that Apple seems to require--I have a 4TB USB hard drive ordered from Amazon arriving tomorrow. I will see about loading Logic Pro and ALL of its gigabytes of add-ons on it and have it connected to Time Machine as well. Besides, this is a 2009 iMac and it will be used until it shows the Blue Screen of Death like my 2-year newer model MacBook Pro did last month. So maybe this is good timing to force me toward better habits. Cheers!
