I'm wondering if someone could enlighten me about how the group (letters A..B..C..D...etc) can be or are used. I have no trouble making either kind of loop, saving them, importing/exporting them etc..

For example is there a way my Guitar in Ch. Strip 1 can be to assigned A..B..C.. groups etc. each with a different guitar loop start and play different points each with a different Loop letter A..B..C.. etc.? (My Loop) is in the Guitar Ch. Strip 1...Would/Could A..B..C..etc~ be played in Guitar Ch. Strip 1?
Is it possible for a controller (Button alternating values) to be assigned to start the Loopback or Playback (loops)?
Can this be done with a Korg NanoKontrol2 using a knob control set for each letter?

Any insight into the Loopback & Playback portions of M.S. would be well appreciated. thanks

The groups for both plugins are explained in the Mainstage 2 manual, Appendix A and B. These groups have nothing to do with routing but rather with the behavior of multiple plugins:
Using the Playback Group Functions
If you have multiple instances of the Playback plug-in in a concert, you can use groups to control which instances play together and which instances operate independently.

Not with groups, because all loop plugins in one group would record and play simultaneously.

Yes.

Yes. But I think you have to switch the controller to MIDI mode. So far I know the nanoKontrol2 works with the Mackie protocol by default.
