Logic Pro 9 Lost all audio files between song recording

I just recorded 5 separate songs. 2 audio inputs 1 vocal 1 acoustic guitar . When I finished each song I saved the file and without closing, deleted the tracks and saved as a new file name and continued recording with previous settings. I thought this would be an easy way to do multiples without going through new file setups. Well, I went to add effects and mix. All songs except the last one went missing the two audio files. I tried to locate them to no avail. what did I do wrong? Just lost about 3 hours of live takes. I am using a Mac Book Pro with snow leopard.

When you deleted your tracks, weren't you prompted with a warning giving you the option of deleting the files permanently from the hard disc? Did you choose this option?

Did you check your trash? Logic will place the files that are deleted into the trash, and if you haven't emptied it, they might still be there.

Yeah, I'd check that first, too.

Still, for the future, when you want to do such things, always do a "save project as" and also look at the options the file dialog offers (even if I believe that recorded audio files are automatically included).

Oh, Ho Ho Ho Ho. The trash! In my frustration, I forgot to check the trash. In the future, I will make an empty template like I did for my midi guitar with all my prefered settings. Then watch the dialog boxes as I save and close the new projects to be sure THAT'S what I want to do. This has been a great lesson for me. Thank you.
