Logic Pro 9 Low Memory and Snow Leopard

JGS

Logician
Hi All,

I'm about to try SL on a system backup drive because I've been getting 'low memory' warnings and crashes. I'm hoping that working in 64 bit in SL will eliminate this problem.

Is there anyone who can confirm that L9 with OS 10.6.3 eliminates the 4 gb RAM limit of Logic allowing the Logic project to access the available RAM?

thanks!

Yes it does...

But You got to have more than 4Gb of memory in Your Mac and You have to run Logic 9.1 in 64-bit mode (Do a "show info/cmd+I" on Logics application).

I recently upgraded to 12Gb and Logic runs great!

In case you haven't come across it, FAQ 9 links to an Apple KB dealing with Logic and Mainstage in 64 bit.

No memory problems here running Logic Pro 9.1.1 in 10.6.3 with 13 GB RAM in my Dual Quad Mac Pro.

kind regards

Mark

64bit rawks with Logic and all of Spectrasonics, and there is also a Kontakt beta which seems to be fine as well.
Just beware the 32 bit bridge is unstable for some third party plug-ins and will crash, but won't always take your song down with it.

Best of luck!

Where can I find this Kontakt beta? I just logged into the Native Instruments site and the newest update I saw there was 4.0.5. Does that version run in 64 bit mode when called up as an AU within Logic / 64 bits mode / Snow Leopard?
