Hi

I really need help on this topic since M-audio couldn't help me.

How can I setup the drum pads on the axiom pro 61.According to M-audio support it will work with pro tools but not with logic.
Also I need to know how if its possible to setup the midi so that I can be able to use the knobs as well.

As per today I only has connected that as midi and can only use the keys.

Kind regards

Mira

First is, to know what the device is sending. Install MIDI Monitor, it can show you almost all MIDI events, incoming, outgoing and within your computer. Go to it's preferences and set the CC names to decimal numbers instead of names. Then try everything on the Axiom and observe MIDI Monitor to learn what's going on, what is working and what not.

From the review in Sound On Sound magazine back in 2009:

To get the Axiom Pro working with your sequencer, you need to install the specific HyperControl software profile for it, unless you are using Pro Tools 8 or Ableton Live. (At the time of the review, HyperControl was supported for Cubase, Logic, Pro Tools, Reason and Live.)

Unfortunately, it appears that M-Audio has no download links for this software on their website!!!!! Contact their support again and ask about a download link.

From my experience it is not a good idea to rely on software for an outdated, finally unsupported device. M-Audio will never update the Control Software.

The keyboard has MIDI I/O and according to the manual it should send MIDI without the specific software. I think the best recommondation is to program it locally (on the device), use it just over plain MIDI and map yourself what you need. Therefore you need to see what it is sending in a convenient, most complete way. Hence the suggestion to download MIDI Monitor. This software should be in the toolbox of anyone who uses MIDI on a Mac.

I agree with this 100%. I've been burned many times by this very common practice and now avoid buying any hardware that has a dependency on software. M-Audio is notorious for dropping support for products rather quickly (the Axiom Pro came out in 2009, which is like a century ago in DAW terms).

You can map the controls and save these as presets. If you don't have it already, download the user manual (that is still available here) and start learning how to program the presets. This is always complicated and tedious which is why mfrs all provide presets in the first place.
