Logic Studio apps Mainstage: Novation (AutoMap) vs M-Audio (HyperControl)?

Hello, all -

Any recommendations on which controller is better integrated with Mainstage?
In particular, between the Novation line with Automap and the M-Audio line with HyperControl. The Novation installs a software layer on the computer; I assume that HyperControl does also. I've been searching online, and many have described experiences with Logic, but very little info about Mainstage compatibility, stability, and integration.

MainStage supports HyperControl directly (automatic mappings, display support), no additional software needed.

Novation is not supported by MainStage because it is not a class compliant MIDI device. It will only see what their software offers via MIDI, which probably means no display support.

Can you explain what a class compliant MIDI device is and what to look for to get best compatibility with MainStage (and Logic)?

Thank you for the reply...Yet Novation does list instructions on using Mainstage with AutoMap:

I am rather confused now. I will also send Novation an email directly to inquire.

When asking Novation: ask them if their devices listen to value changes in MainStage: do they update their values, when they are changed with the mouse in the workspace? Do they display the name of the mappings?
