Logic Pro 9 Memory low message

Rohan

Logician
Hi,

I've been constantly getting the memory low message with the current session that I'm working on and the session has also quit because of this. The session has approximately 30 tracks though I am using a lot of soft synths from various sample banks, however, this message continues to come even after I have frozen all the tracks which I find puzzling. The CPU indicator is pretty low after I freeze the tracks but the HD indicator is around the half way mark. I even tried increasing the I/O buffer size to 512 but that doesn't seem to be helping much. Would appreciate if someone has any ideas that would help me with this as it is frustrating to have these constant interruptions,

thanks
Rohan

Please provide this information:

Which version of Logic are you using, and if it is Logic 9.1 or newer, are you running it in 32 bit or 64 bit mode?

Which OS Version?

Which Plug-ins are involved? Logic's internal instruments, or are you using some other Audio Units. If so, which ones, and which versions?

kind regards

Mark

Hi Mark,

I'm using Logic 9.1.5 and running it in a 32 bit mode.

I'm using a Mac Book Pro with OS version 10.6.8, the processor speed is 2.8 GHz.

I have two tracks with Sculpture and 6 with EXS. Besides that I'm using Omnisphere (1.5.6d 32 bit), Stylus RMX (1.9.6e 32 bit) and Absynth 5 (5.0.3) from NI.

There are 4 tracks of Omnisphere and 3 tracks of Stylus and 2 tracks of Absynth. Plus 10 audio tracks.

I am using the Logic plugins and plugins from Waves, mainly EQ, compression and delay and some for effects.

Thanks,
Rohan

Assuming you have sufficient RAM (how much do you have?) you should try running your project in 64 bit mode.

Thanks Mark, I will try the 64 bit mode, I have 4 GB RAM.

Just one question: I was under the impression that when one freezes the track it is temporarily converted into an audio file, so I was wondering why there should be such a load on the CPU even after I freeze the tracks?

Thanks,
Rohan

You need more ram that that for sure, with Omnisphere. the only thing I can suggest is getting more ram, or bouncing the track and deleting the instrument once it's bounced to free up ram.

Freeing doesn't always free up ram, regardless of what we think...
