Logic Pro 9 Midi Controller Issue

Hey,

So I am using my yamaha electric piano as my midi controller. However, I can't use the sustain pedal. For example, say I select grand piano as an instrument, when I record I hear the sustain pedal working. When I play back there is no sustain on the piano midi track.

Are you actually recording MIDI data and not just the audio from the electric piano?

If yes, then:

When you step on the sustain pedal, do you see the incoming Control Change number 64 in the transport bar, with an alternating value of 127 (on) and 0 (off)?

Does your recorded MIDI region show light gray vertical stripes, which indicate that controller data got recorded in the region?

And if you switch Hyperdraw for your recorded MIDI region to "Sustain Pedal", does it display the recorded controller data CC 64?

Sort of a similar issue...

Also on the Yamaha Electric piano run with a MAudio USB MidiSport. I'll have to look into editing the keyboards output but the above midi notes were produced by a single press and release of the sustain pedal. I can go in and delete them all in the event or score editor but it's really frustrating.

Working on it... Distracting me from making music...

Your data look as if you connected a volume pedal to the sustain input. You seem to get a continuous controller but a sustain pedal would rather act as a switch.

Do you have both, a sustain and a volume pedal?
Maybe you just plugged them into the wrong holes.

Btw, you may want to download and install MidiMonitor. It allows you to see almost all MIDI data walking around in your computer.
