I've discovered limitations with Logic's environment and midi devices.
Creating midi assignments for key commands is easy enough BUT if you don't have the same midi devices present all the time, Logic can expect the midi commands to come from the wrong device. Check in the Controller Assignments dialog box: the MIDI input field can change to another device if you connect or disconnect a usb midi keyboard. I have 3 usb midi synths and 2 midi interfaces connected, but if I don't turn on all the usb midi synths then the midi key commands use the wrong midi input. Strangely, if I set the Midi Input of every learned command to "Any" then NONE of the midi commands work. I'm really stuck on this major inconvenience.
Also, if you use the Physical Input environment object to cable a particular midi keyboard input, the list of inputs change depending on which gear is connected. This makes it impossible to use anything other than the SUM output because the outputs change dynamically.
Is this just the way it is?

B
