Logic Pro Midi record enable logic 10.7.9

Greetings

I'm running logic on an M1 Mac Studio, Ventura 13.4.

I frequently run into a problem where midi channels will not automatically record-enable. I have to click the 'R' tab on the channel in order to hear midi when I play my keyboard - and then, when I switch to another track, the previous one is still latched in record. I have to go back up to the previous channel, disable record and move to the new channel and record-enable that one.

Anybody else experiencing this bug?

First things first - are you selecting a channel strip in order to hear your keyboard? If you are, but you can't hear it then something is wrong. If you are not, rather, you record ready a channel strip without selecting it, yes, you will hear then whichever sound is associated with that channel strip. You will keep hearing it until you switch off record ready. AFAIK that is expected behaviour.

Not sure if that is any help to you but at least someone answered....

kind regards

Mark

Yes: I select and highlight a channel, no keyboard response. Nothing different procedurally than I've done since logic 5. No sound, nothing registers anywhere in logic.

It comes and goes. I haven't been able to isolate what action brings back the normal behavior. It returns eventually, but in the meantime it's maddening.

I'm going to update my operating system and see if that helps.

Thanks for getting back, Mark

I wonder if the connection between your keyboard and computer might be the problem?

Hmm. That's a thought, actually, bc I do have a new keyboard and midi interface. I'd been using an Emagic Unitor forever and I just replaced it, along with a new keyboard. Good thought. I'll look into it. Thanks!
