Logic Pro MIDI SERVICES NOT AVAILABLE MSG YOSEMITE

Hello,

I'm hoping other users can help me to resolve this.

I often get a msg on starting up logic pro x: midi services not available. And then, a moment later a msg saying something like: core midi device not available. Can't remember the exact wording. Sometimes a restart clears it up. Sometimes simply quitting and re-starting the program clears it up. It doesn't seem to be very consistent. Seems sometimes to occur after a save as.

Am running Logic pro x 10.1.1
Yosemite 10.10.3
Artist series mix, transport
Macpro 12 core, 64 gig ram
core audio thru avid HDX/HD system
Motu micro express (had to trash clockworks. my system hung every time I tried to restart)

I keep my computer very clean, tuned up and fully optimized, backed up at all times.
All of my project materials and most of my samples stay on external thunderbolt drives

Many thanks, please feel free to pm me etc. or email at peterscherr@gmail.com

Hello,

First of all, I think your post should be used as an example of how to pose a question here: You clearly state an issue, list your system specs, and provide additional information. Terrific!

When time allows, (when does it ever?), unplug all of your peripherals, using Logic with just the OSX built-in audio. Open and play projects that seemed to trigger the MSG if there is any correlation. Does the MSG appear?

Next, reconnect one device. Hard to say which one. If you're using several external sound modules, then try hooking up your audio interface first. Give it a test run. Does the MSG appear?

If the audio interface is playing nicely, then add the MIDI interface. Same as above.

Finally add your Artist series device.

I would do a "restart" after adding each device.

Complete web searches for your various devices to see if there's any web buzz on device/Yosemite compatibility.

I'm a big fan of MOTU software/hardware, but years ago did have some issues with the older, (original?), version of the Micro Express interface.

Hope something here helps out.
