Logic Pro 9 multi-instrument object problems

When I open my multi-instrument object. The window flashes then goes away?
Feels like a bug. The only way to keep the synth patch list open is my finger
down on my mbp track pad? Therefore I am unable to update or create
a new synth patch list in my multi-instrument object.
