It is very rare that Apple ever indicates what will be happening next with logic, but the WWDC keynote presentation yesterday showed a "brand new version of logic" which, according to presenter David Earl, can run 1000 tracks and 1000 instruments:

the logic presentation, part of the demonstration of the new Mac Pro, starts at 1:29:20

In the last day or so, Apple has updated the technical specifications page for Logic Pro X. The page now says that Logic's mixer can handle 1,000 audio channels, 1,000 software instrument channels and 1,000 aux channels. The fact that the page has been updated suggests to me that a new version is imminent.

Thanks for the link. I note that it also states that OSX 10.13.6 is a minimum requirement.

I assume this is associated with the new Mac Pro so it can take advantage of the increased power. Something to do with no longer needing slave systems for large orchestral templates.
