New mac pro thoughts

Pre-orders are being tsken for the new mac pro (aka the garbage can). I noticed they come with 256 gb flash and no rotating drive. What do you all think?

flash is great but is so expensive to get to reasonable sized drive. you'll have to get external storage.. preferably raid. so add at least $500 for thunderbolt ready external storage.

upgrading from base model to 8 core CPU gets you to $5k pretty quickly

6 core is more reasonable but w/external storage and RAM you're looking at $4k+

certainly a stupid fast machine though and will fly.. but i think a hackintosh will be my next mac or perhaps used mac pro via ebay or amazon.

i hope to not have to buy a new computer for at least a year though.. hopefully 2 years 🙂
