Hello all,
I am new, did try to read as much as I could on all treads, posts here but did not find the answers for myself.
Can somebody help ?
My question:
Pls show me from scratch to composed a simple song with few instruments. How, when and where to set tempo, chords...
Also pls. show me how to change chords on loops when I use in my tracks...
Thanks all
Mike

I asked Mr. Google but no answer at all. I did find some tips here and there on you tube, on all forums like this and I also watch lots of instructional videos for logic 9 but nowhere can help answer my question.
I wrote songs by old ways (on paper sheet music, set key, chords, write down melody...) now I want to do on digital ways with logic pro 9.
But nowhere show me how to do it from start. They all show somewhere in the middle, assuming that I must understand the first steps...
Thank you for your advice anyway.

Start to do it in the same way as you did it on paper.

Technical preparation:

  1. Create a software instrument track
  2. Load the EXS sample player
  3. Select an instrument of your choice
  4. Create a region on the track
  5. Open the score editor
  6. Start composing
You will find in the manual what you need to do the steps above, except for composing itself which is completely your domain.

When you have a couple of notes playing and want to try a second instrument, make a new track, load an instrument, duplicate your region or make a new one, open the score editor, continue. And so on ...

By the way: This is how I started with Logic many years ago, before the World Wide Web existed. I had no help at all and no experience with digital music. It worked and will work for you either. Needs some time of course.

Mike, I can't help wondering where your Logic came from that it didn't come with a manual and "Getting Started" documents, as well as sample song etc. If you have these, I would start with them, and if you don't I would ask your dealer where they are.
