Newbie MIDI/USB Connection Question

Hi All,

I have a MacBook Pro and the Logic Pro Version 9.1.8. I'd like to be able to connect an iRig Keys and an Apogee JAM Guitar Input Box. Both connect via USB. Is it possible to set up Logic Pro so that both devices can play at the same time? Obviously I'd like to be able to run various software Instruments at the same time.

Any pointers on where to look on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi although I don't know either of these devices specifically, I think they're "class compliant" and you just need to plug em in. For the audio I/O just select it in the audio tab as the current driver. The irig keys should just work

Hi,

I've been playing around and managed to get the Jam Guitar box to sound live through Logic Pro. The "input" box appeared and when I clicked it and it works ok. I'm not sure how to make the iRig Keys work though. I added a new track and selected External MIDI Device but I can't seem to get it to work - the "Input" Checkbox does not appear on the track bar as it does with the Amp/Guitar Tracks.

I looked at the Audio MIDI Setup App but not sure how to set it up. The iRig Keys appears but I'm not sure how to select this device in Logic Pro.

It seems like in the preferences there can only be on Real Input Device/Instrument?

I'm confused and I can't seem to find anywhere where it shows an example of setting up two MIDI Devices in Logic Pro.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I tried it without the Jam Guitar Box and I can't get the iRig Keys to work at all. It a USB/MIDI device, with no speakers etc. I'm not sure how to select this in Logic Pro?

Hi again, are you wanting to use the irig as a midi input device? (to get notes into logic) The irig keys is a midi/USB input device which has no sounds "on it" all it can do is send midi notes into logic for use with software instruments/plugins, ie it relies on something else to make the sounds. On you're iOS device it's the iPad/iPhone which coverts the midi note information to sound, not the irig.

Hi,

I want to be able to hit notes on the keyboard hear sounds through the Mac Pro (not an iPad or an iPhone) via one USB port while at the same time being able to play a Guitar through a Apogee Jam Guitar Box connected to another USB port and hear the sounds from both instruments.

Cheers
Dave
