Logic Pro 9 No Channel Strip on the right side

Logic Pro 9 user: There is no Channel Strip showing in the right hand column, just a blank space. I need instructions on how to input the right column with all its features and functions. Thank you.

I'm unclear about that as well. I wonder if this means that in a stereo channel strip, the right level meter is not showing any activity, such as used to be the case with universal track mode on or off issues? Then again, I don't think it was possible to switch UTM off in Logic 9, but if for example Stereo files from Pro Tools were being used, or perhaps an old Logic project saved in a version where UTM was switched off is opened in L9, then there may be problems. In any case, it would be good if Jan can clarify what this mysterious right hand column really is so we aren't making wild guesses....
