Logic Pro 9 "Open movie" takes a lifetime to open

Hello,

it's my system or is it happening now to someone else?

When I open a movie, even in a quite simple project, it takes a very long time, one or two minutes sometimes. I thought it was related to thumbnail quality and cache size, but also after reducing both to the minimum nothing changes.
Some months ago I worked on another movie and everything worked fine, meantime I updated Logic to latest version...
Movie files I'm working on now are Quicktime 720x576 Apple Motion Jpeg-A.

Anyone has an idea?...
Thanks in advance!

That could be a HUGE file depending on the length and the quality of the Jpegs.

How much RAM do you have?

If you have FCP you can use Compressor to covert it to a more logic friendly format.

That aspect ratio is unusual and it is LARGE. 320x240 is usually a much more forgiving raster-size to import & drag around with an audio DAW and keeping the compression high (as in poor looking quality) will help your system even more (since higher compression means individual file sizes are smaller.
And this is assuming you are dealing with something on the long-ish side (perhaps more than a few minutes?)
I am un-clear on the duration of this movie.

If an editor is prepping video for you, it should be a separate render for you than what he might be presenting to clients to view.
Clients may need to view something large or with less compression but you do not.
Start there with the editor & see how it goes.
