Orchestral software?

Hi User's group,
I would like to hear your experiences with orchestral/symphonic software like East-west or Vienna packages?
I'll be using it for accompanying jazz or classical compositions. Is it worth the investment?
Thanks for any discussions.

It depends on the extent of your productions. There are some smaller packages that might be better for some light accompaniment, like, Garritan GPO or MOTU Symphonic Instrument:

The difference between these and the larger collections you mention is scope and authenticity, as well as the sheer number of samples, instruments and articulations. But the smaller libraries can yield some pretty authentic results, depending on your requirements...

Hi Eddie
Thank you for your reply. It was most helpful and probably saved me some money. I bought JABB 3 yesterday, and that wasn't expensive. I'm trying to plug it into Logic, and haven't got it working yet. Well, Rome was built in one day, as they say....
Anyway, thanks again Eddie.
