Logic Pro 9 paste while recording

so i used to use pt, and when im doing a rap session and copying and pasting the hooks, i could do it while they were doing a rough pass on the verse, so it was in place and kept good energy and flow.... when i do it in logic it pastes weird stuff in weird places and sometimes even stops recording. is this a logic thing, or a me thing? anyone else do this? its not ruining my life or anything, just curious.

I find the easiest way is alt+drag, logic always seems to wants to paste at the play head (which is obviously moving when recording!)
