Logic Pro 9 Poor linkage between Piano Roll and Hyper Edit?

peterlemer

Logician
now on 9.1.0.

I am editing between 2 windows:
Piano Roll
Hyper Edit ( viewing note placements only)

I am used to clicking on a note or notes in the Piano Roll, and seeing it/them highlit in Hyper Edit.

( I sometimes use this when the music is recorded 'wild' without click, and Hyper Edit gives me a good visual overview of note timings within phrases. I then shift the notes in the Piano Roll till the phrase looks and sounds right)

but...

In 9.1.0, when I select a note in Piano Roll, the equivalent events in Hyper Edit don't change until I press 'Play' or some other manipulation - which I haven't pinned down - life's too short.

Why isn't Hyper Edit working as it used to?

Same here.

But, if the HE is opened in the consolidated window (using the editor buttons towards the bottom), and the PR is opened from the Window menu (or dragging out a floating editor from the consolidated window), then notes selected in the PR will show up in the HE.

Editted. The above does not consistently work.

However, selecting the notes in the HE automatically selects them in the PR. Consistently!

thanks for that depressing confirmation of yet further deterioration in Logic functionality

:-(

Is this general downward trend being discussed anywhere?

Thanks for the workaround, CSeye

Strange as it may sound, tonight it's working.

Different project, two editor windows open. Click on note in PR, it's selected in HE.

Go figure.
