I've been "forced" by a new client to use my dusty old Pro Tools 9. It first started out that he just needed to do a day over overdubs and then was going to have another studio mix. I had stated that I much preferred Logic (or DP for that mater) over PT but he didn't care. After the overdub day I decided to do a quick demo mix in one song as I new I could make it sound decent. Smash cut to this last week and I'm now the mixer an yes, it's all been done in PT. Since its just audio tracks and things were recorded consistently it's been relatively painless, dare I say even enjoyable. I can easily import all the mix settings from one song to the next so that's been nice (just like Logic). I've really enjoyed using playlists again ala DP and like the very fluid audio editing. I miss some of Logic's built in plugins, faster bounce to disk and bounce audio track t new track. I have to archive some Melodyne and trigger stuff so that's been painful. Overall I'm thrilled that I've had the opportunity to better learn PT after having owned it for 6 years! During the past month I've been in "school" using lynda.com (which I had subscribe to foot learn another app) so it's been fun. I have another mix project coming up and am debating about doing it in PT or Logic. They're on a budget so I feel like I can work quicker in Logic as that real time bounce to disk thing is killing me. Also, I learn things in a new saw and then go back to my familiar daw and apply the new trick there if I'm able to. I'm still very much a Logic fan boy an if anything. Have more reasons to love it over my other 3 daws. I can only imagine how nutty it is to be Eli with his having to master multiple daws and then teach them!
