Logic Pro 8 Project Crashing In 8 after Opening a Logic 9 Project

Hi guys

Major hassles this morning and I hope you can help...heres the lowdown:

I was doing a really good project in logic 8, and then a colleague gave me a logic 9 file to open and check.

I opened the file and logic gave me the usual "do you want to close / save" current project which i did, then opened up the logic 9 file.

When I had done with that, I closed logic down and attempted to open up my logic project I had been working on and it opened fine, but the media player on the right was now showing Event details and when i tried to do anything at all it crashed logic totally and keeps doing so.

Does anyone know what i can do to get this back up and running?

Thanks so much in advance

I suggest you take a look into the song Project File Backups folder in your song folder and see if you have an earlier version you can open up.

Does your song have the title and than the work "Crashed" beside it?

Hi there, thanks for getting back to me

Yes it does have that (crashed) file in there (actually 2 of them). I cant open an older version of it im afraid - i've tried.

Can it be salvaged? Thanks again for your help

Try this:

select the file with the name and then "crashed" after it. Don't open it, just select it. Right click on your mouse button while it's over the file, and select the option: Show Package Contents. You should be inside the Logic file and see a folder called "LgDoc". Open it. I need you to write a list of the file titles you see and post them to this thread.

Hi George

Sorry for the late reply - I have been away for a few days.

I tried what you said but it wont actually let me right click on anything at all when i do that. Nothing comes up when i do. Very strange

Also, I have actually just bought Logic 9 in order for me to upgrade. Will this help? My problem. I havent done anything yet until i tried what you said and got back to you.

I really hope that you might be able to help as im pulling my hair out here...

Cheers mate and thanks for your help

Chris
