Logic Pro 9 Question about the Library Tab

I've encountered a strange problem and maybe I'm just doing something dumb...

I have an Arrange window open in Logic 9 with the Media browser open on the Library tab.

As a default behaviour, when you click on a new track in Arrange, the Library browser shows all the available Channel strips for that type of track, eg a software instrument track. If I load an EXS24, the Library tab changes to show all possible EXS24 presets. If I add a Space Designer to the channel strip, the Library tab now shows all Space Designer presets, or changes to show what I select - either the EXS24 or the Space Designer.

But let's say I want to rather send to a Bus with a Space Designer loaded. There seems to be no way to show Space Designer presets in the Library Tab. The only way seems to be to assign an Arrange track to the Bus strip, and select that track - then I can choose the Space Designer slot and the presets will show in the Library Tab.

But then my original instrument track is no longer selected and I can't play while auditioning presets.

Am I missing something obvious here?
Or is Logic missing a feature....?

Colin

Hi Colin,

I agree - this seems to be an oversight... as only the left channel strip in the Inspector will allow for channel strip settings or plugins presets to be selected from the Library.

Also, you're completely right, even selecting Aux channels in the Mixer will not update the Library list to show presets unless that channel strip has been added to the Arrange area... Kinda annoying, but you can still access the channel strip settings list by click-holding on the "Settings" button at the top of the channel strip... and of course open up each plugin to access it's presets menu.

Thanks for confirming that Rounik. I'll file a feature request at Logic feedback about this.

Hi Colin

Good point. I'll send a feedback report to Apple on this too...

Thanks for the welcome! Glad you've found the macProVideo logic forums helpful 🙂
I'm still there mainly - but to see what's going on around the web!
